What is the purpose of the fund and definition of the recipient?
The purpose of this Fund is to provide scholarships to recipients who meet the criteria set forth below.
The award selection process for this Fund will be administered, subject to the terms of this Agreement and Foundation policy, by the UW-L Foundation Scholarship Committee, hereinafter known as the Committee, which may in its operation and within its discretion consult with or delegate to such other persons or committees as deemed appropriate and proper within Foundation policy and the intent of the Fund.
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
(1) Recipient must be enrolled full time at UW-La Crosse;
(2) Recipient must be in good academic standing with at least a 3.0 grade point average;
(3) Recipient may be a sophomore, junior or senior current member of the marching band and should have at least one year served in the marching band;
(4) At least one award should be made annually;
(5) The amount of each annual award shall be in such amount as determined by the committee but shall be consistent with the amount available and not less than $400, if possible. The selection committee reserves the right to renew the scholarship to a qualified student. It is understood that the scholarship will be applied directly to the UW-L student’s account and not to the student and paid out in two equal installments for each of the semesters of a standard academic year.

Can donations be one time or recurring monthly, quarterly, or annually?
Yes, such donations can be set up how you wish using the 'Donate to the UWL Alumni Band Scholarship Today' button on this page. Or you may mail a check to UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation UWL Alumni & Friends Foundation 615 East Ave. N. La Crosse, WI 54601 and indicate on the subject line – Alumni Band Scholarship Fund.
Who was Dr. Alexander?
“Dr. A” was Director of Bands at UWL from 1969 to 1994. He was highly instrumental in the continued outstanding success of, most notably, the marching band during these years. He will be remembered for generations by not only his former band members and family but, also the local community and music lovers across the country.
